Factors Affecting the Handover Latency in MIPv6

Mobility management for the next generation IPv6 networks is one of the recent research issues due to the growing demand for wireless services over internet. Mobile Internet Protocol version 6 (MIPv6) has been proposed to solve the problem of mobility in the next generation era of Internet. MIPv6 allows packets from source to destination and vice versa while mobile node has moved away from its ...

Mobility Management in Next Generation Wireless Systems

This paper describes current and proposed protocols for mobility management for public land mobile network (PLMN)-based networks, mobile Internet protocol (IP), wireless asynchronous transfer mode (ATM), and satellite networks. The integration of these networks will be discussed in the context of the next evolutionary step of wireless communication networks. First, a review is provided of locat...

Novel Seamless Mobility Protocol for Next Generation Wireless Networks

-In next-generation wireless networks, mobile nodes (MNs) need to freely change their network attachment point while communicating with others. Accordingly, it is crucial for mobile operators to provide efficient seamless mobility support. Several mobility protocols have been standardized by the working groups of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). However, none of them can provide seam...

Policy-Based Route Optimization for Network Mobility of Next Generation Wireless Networks

Recently, due to the recent advance of ubiquitous wireless networking technology, there has been a great deal of research efforts for seem-less support of the movement of mobile networks. The IETF NEMO WG’s approach to network mobility has the so called ‘pinball routing problem,’ and the most of research attempts to solve this problem has limitations in the efficiency of both signaling and data...
